LaGuardia Airport

For this study, L&B  utilized computer simulation software, ARCport, to analyze the movement and Level of Service (LOS) of passengers within key processing areas of the proposed new Central Terminal Building (CTB) at LaGuardia Airport (LGA) for the Port Authority of New York New Jersey (PANYNJ).

This simulation assessment encompassed curb-to-gate passenger flows including; arrival and departure curbs, check-in, security screening checkpoints (SSCP), concessions, hold rooms, passenger enplaning/deplaning, and bag claim.  The analysis was based on the most current TSA guidelines and information gathered on existing and anticipated future passenger processing rates through the SSCP and other passenger processing facilities.

In this analysis, L&B tested various scenarios, including adjustment of staffing levels at the SSCP’s.  Simulation modelling allowed L&B to quickly assess and quantify the impact made by changes in staffing, scheduling, and processor locations.

Results included passenger LOS, density, passenger wait times, queue lengths, time in terminal, and bag wait time.
